Miniature Dachshunds The Dachshund had a lively, upbeat personality--spunky, curious and friendly. These traits remain from the Dachshund's original job: "Dachshund" means "badger dog" in German, and he was created to hunt down badgers. The Dachshund is a member of the Hound Group and was first recognized by the AKC in 1885.

Labrador Retriever The beloved Labrador Retriever is playful, loving to people and hardworking. The Lab can be counted on as a true friend anytime, anyplace, and is highly respected for his prowess at many jobs: as a guide dog for the disabled, a search-and-rescue dog, and for narcotics detection. The Labrador is a member of the Sporting Dog Group and was first recognized by the AKC in 1917. |

Pekingese The Pekingese gets his name from the ancient city of Peking, now called Beijing. Chinese legend has it that the breed is the offspring of a lion and a monkey. Because of their thick undercoats, Pekingese need at least an hourly brushing session per week. The Pekingese is a member of the Toy Group and was first recognized by the AKC in 1906.
